The Inception of Now&Me

Founded in 2019 by Bani Singh and Drishti Gupta. Now&Me was first conceptualised by Bani, who built the prototype of the product. In 2020, Nitesh Kumar Niranjan joined in as the tech co-founder of the company.

In our final semester at Lady Shri Ram College, Drishti and I realised that there wasn’t a safe space online where people could be their authentic selves and have open conversations about their mental health. That led to the start of Now&Me. - Bani

Now&Me is a peer to peer community support network for people to feel better during tough times. Users can express whatever they’re feeling in a safe space, with the option of doing so anonymously, and interact with others who might have been through similar things as them. It also equips them with resources and tips to navigate and lead a better life.

The goal is to foster an environment where the user can talk and feel heard. To let them know that they matter and an entire community spanning across the globe is rooting for them. This community comes totally free of cost ensuring that a lack of resources does not pave a hindrance to the free flow of emotions. Now&Me believes in the un-bottling of emotions and facing them by talking it out.

Challenges Faced

• Since Now&Me’s inception, our goal has been to build a safe space for people, which is why we haven’t monetised our services. A community-first approach towards mental health is very new and unique. It has never been done in India. This made our initial years as entrepreneurs difficult, as most people did not take it as a serious concept. They thought Now&Me was just a side project for us.
• A young company with just 3 co-founders managing and building it, it was difficult to find the right resources and the right talent for our company. However, Drishti & I have been each other’s “Now&Me” from the very beginning and we’re glad to have established Now&Me to where it is now.
• The biggest challenge continues to be finding more ways in which we can bridge the gap between people’s need for professional mental health help and the inability to do so due to lack of awareness and social stigma.
• Entrepreneurship by itself has been a roller coaster ride, full of a variety of emotions. Managing work and emotions has definitely been a handful.
